Plane full of emergency supplies sent to IPHC ministry complex in Haiti

Thanks to your help and contributions, a plane full of food left for Port-au-Prince at 8:00 am this morning carrying:

  • 1500 lbs of Rice
  • 300 lbs of Beans
  • 360 lbs of Water
  • 190 lbs of Powdered Milk
  • 48 tarps
  • 10 lbs of salt

These items will be taken to the IPHC ministry complex in Port-au-Prince where many families who lost their homes are staying.

Assessment team reports heavy damage to IPHC homes

The home of an IPHC family in Port-au-Prince, Haiti

As expected, the damage to IPHC homes in Port-au-Prince is extensive. The IPHC's compound in Port-au-Prince has sustained some damage, but it is standing. Almost all of the homes in the surrounding community were destroyed, including the homes of nearly every IPHC family. Many local families are staying at the IPHC compound, and they need water, food, medicine, and fuel.

Early reports indicate that nearly every IPHC member in Haiti has lost at least one family member. The director of one of People to People's schools, Cabaret, is among the dead. Thankfully, the national leadership and the assessment team have not heard of any People to People children who were killed; early reports indicate that all of the children have survived.

World Missions Ministries continues to urge people to pray for the people of Haiti:

  • Pray that supply lines for essential supplies needed in Haiti will be opened up.
  • Pray for the survivors as they grieve the loss of family members.
  • Pray for those who are injured, sick, or without food and water.

Haitians staying at IPHC compound in Port-au-Prince need water, food, medicine, and fuel

The IPHC's initial response team in Haiti reports that the compound in Port-au-Prince has sustained some damage to a security wall, but the buildings are standing. Nearly all the homes surrounding the compound have been completely destroyed, including the homes of many IPHC members. Many local families and IPHC believers are staying at the church compound. The team reports that there is an urgent need for food, water, medicine, and fuel at the compound to assist these survivors.

Monetary donations to People to People's disaster relief fund will allow our missionaries and churches in the Dominican Republic to purchase supplies for distribution in Haiti. Ways to Help Haiti

  • Donate to Haiti relief: People to People's Disaster Relief fund is the primary way you can provide food, shelter, and long-term assistance to Haitians. You can donate online by clicking here.
  • Join a team: Additional relief teams are already forming. Darrel and Bonnie Clowers are planning a medical team in February. The Awakening is trying to organize a trip for college students and adults in March. For more information about these teams, please contact the Clowers, Max and Jessica Barroso (The Awakening directors), or call our offices.
  • Provide specialty equipment: The IPHC needs a portable field hospital and portable water systems (AquaPacks by Solar Solutions). We also need four-wheel drive trucks to distribute supplies in Haiti. If you can contribute to these needs, please call 1-888-474-2966 extension 3212.
  • Collect an offering: Ask your church, Sunday school class, and other groups to collect a special offering for Haiti relief. You can use our bulletin insert to share the need with your church.
  • Raise money: Ask a business or local organization to display People to People's flyer regarding our efforts to assist 3,000 Haitian children.
  • Support our missionaries: Give to Darrel and Bonnie Clowers's missionary support and ministry account. The Clowers live in the Dominican Republic and are the regional ministry coordinators for Haiti and other Caribbean nations. IPHC Assessment Team Reaches Port-au-Prince, Haiti

The team arrived after dark, so they have not began assessing the damage to the IPHC's schools and churches in Haiti. They are staying at a mission compound tonight and will begin assessment and relief efforts in the morning.

Communication with the team and our Haitian leaders has been difficult because of the extensive damage. To date, we have few details about the welfare of our IPHC members and the children in People to People's sponsorship programs. We urge continued prayer for their safety, and encourage people to donate generously to People to People's disaster relief fund.

Bennett, Daniel Clowers, and Sprinkle flew to the Dominican Republic on Friday, January 15. They were met by Darrel and Bonnie Clowers, the IPHC's missionaries to the Dominican Republic. Darrel Clowers joined Bennett, Daniel Clowers, and Sprinkle as they took a bus from Santo Domingo, DR to Port-au-Prince.
