Emmanuel College Team in Peru
by Brenda Clowers
In May, a team from Emmanuel College, led by Professor Carl Davis and his wife Jean, went to Lima, Peru to minister. They visited schools, churches, and People to People feeding programs where they held science shows with Dr. Frank Mann. The children loved the science shows and loved the gifts and candy that the team passed out.Pastor Harrison Lampley from Franklin Springs PHC was also on the team. He ministered to the children as well as in the churches. He brought a fresh word and touched the hearts of all.
The team spent two days painting the entire fourth floor of the main building in Lima, Peru. What a blessing! We truly enjoyed the entire time with this group and look forward to more trips in the future. Thanks, Professor Davis, for bringing the team and for being such a blessing to all.
Below is a testimony from one of the team members:
"I was thinking on the airplane ride home what I would say to those who asked me about the mission trip I took to Peru. I wanted to say how much joy that I got out of this experience. I believe I benefitted more than the children. I want to describe the joy and happiness that was unlike any that I have ever felt. It came from some place deep, deep inside me, past my heart, some place only God Himself could reach. I felt humbled that these children, who I saw as so desolate, had shining smiles on their faces every day. I wanted to say all of this when people asked, but instead all that would come out was the word honored. I was truly honored to have walked in the name of Jesus. There is no way else to describe it. I was humbled and I was in awe, but mostly I was honored to have had this opportunity. People told me before I left that once I emptied myself and let the Holy Spirit guide me in this experience, that it would change my life. I had no idea that it would also guide my life." -Jana Mobley (pictured above)
